Audi S4 Engine

Please complete the following fields to receive bids from vendors with a Audi S4 Engine for sale!

The Audi S4 engine is a more powerful version of the A4 model. As the A4 grew, so did the S4. The S4 has had five generations. The first generation, titled ‘C4’ in Audi literature, ran from 1991 until 1994. It featured an inline, 2.2 liter, five cylinder engine with a single, intercooled turbocharger which developed 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. Power grew in 1997 when the ‘B5’ was introduced. Audi added a second turbocharger, another cylinder and another intercooler. The engine became a twin turbo, V6 with 2.7 liters developing 261 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque. Audi replaced this engine in 2002 with the ‘B6’, a 4.2 liter, normally aspirated V8 from the Audi A8 model. It used double overhead cams and variable inlet camshaft timing to deliver 339 horsepower and 302 lb-ft. of torque. This engine powered the next Audi S4 variant, the ‘B7’, without change. In 2009, Audi switched to a 3.0 liter, supercharged V6 producing 329 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of torque. The Roots-type supercharger uses two four-lobe rotors and is mounted on top of the engine. It pumps air directly into the inlet manifold. It uses two water-cooled intercoolers.

Buying a used engine is like buying any other used component. The buyer has to have faith in the seller. The presence of a good warranty is a good sign, as is the length of time the seller has been in business. There are also brokers who look for good, used engines on the market and qualify the seller before referring the buyer.
