In the year 2006, the Ford Motor Company rolled out its new creation the Ford Fusion. The production of the first lot of Ford Fusions’ commenced on the 1st of August 2005 at Ford’s assembly plant in Mexico.  The company offered a mid-sized, four door, five-passenger sedan in the Ford Fusion. Built on CD3 platform, the car came with a front-wheel-drive configuration. The engines used for the Fusion were the inline four cylinder with 16 valves producing 160HP and a five-speed manual transmission, or the six-speed automatic transmission option. The premium end motor offered was a 3.0Liter 24-valve V6 that produced 221HP with either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.

The 2007 model of the car came with an optional AWD (All Wheel Drive) capability. This improvement meant that all four wheels of the car were now capable of receiving torque from the engine simultaneously in contrast to the standard FWD (Front-wheel drive) alternative, where only the front wheels are driven by the engine. The engine specifications remained the same for the 2008 model with improvements in the form of key-less entry and side-curtain airbags. The 2009 model Ford Fusion standard features included front-wheel drive, a 2.3L 4-cylinder engine producing 160 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque with a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. The 3.0L V6 engine with 221 hp with the optional 205 lb-ft on the SE and SEL models came with 6-speed automatic transmission and traction control as a standard feature. Do to the amount of Ford Fusion cars made, locating a used Fusion engine for sale from a dismantlers proves to be a simple task.

2010 saw the base models get a 2.5L 4 cylinder engine producing 175 hp, assuring better mileage than their predecessor. The newly introduced Fusion Sport model came with a 3.5L V6 producing 263 hp and an all-wheel drive feature. Energy concerns got Ford to introduce the Ford Fusion Hybrid model which gave an EPA-estimated 41/36 mpg city/highway.  The 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid produced 191 horsepower, but amazed customers with its ability to cover over 700-miles of travel on a single tank of fuel. The other improvements this year included advanced safety features of as many as 6 airbags, and anti-lock brakes. The Hybrid is competing with the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius. The 2012 Fusion is derived from a 2.5 liter four-cylinder power plant while a 240 horsepower 3-liter Flex Fuel V-6 engine is also available. The 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid produces an amazing 39 miles per gallon average fuel economy by combining a 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor.
