The Chrysler Sebring is a midsized vehicle from the stables of Chrysler built from 1995 to 2010. The car was initially available as a coupe and a sedan, but the models did not share anything in common. Dodge used engines from different vehicles for this car. From the 2008 model, the Sebring coupe and the sedan shared the same platform and similar body features and hence further cost on research and development was spared. However, the model was discontinued in 2010.

The first generation Chrysler Sebring was a coupe and was powered by a 2.4 liter EDZ l4 engine. The sedan was powered by a 2.0 liter Chrysler DOHC l4 motor that was connected to a 5 speed manual transmission. The Chrysler Sebring sedan was built on the outstretched Eagle Talon platform and this was shared with the Dodge Avenger, Mitsubishi Eclipse and the Mitsubishi Gallant. All these vehicles were powered by the 2.0 liter DOHC l4 and used Sebring engines for sale are available at most car workshops which deal in used vehicles. The engines and the transmission from the Sebring can be refitted to the Avenger, Eclipse and the Galant. Used Mitsubishi engines are found in different makes of cars also.

The next generation of the Sebring was out as a convertible and this car was powered by a turbo charged 2.4 liter DOHC l4 engine and which can be refitted to the Chrysler Le Baron and the Chrysler Cirrus. The 1996 model of the Sebring was available with an optional Mitsubishi 6G73 V6 engine and this lent a sportier feel to the convertible. However, this engine was never put into mass production.

The next generation of the Chrysler Sebring was based on Chrysler’s JR platform and featured a 2.4 liter EDZ l4, a 2.7 liter EDZ l4 and an optional 3.0 liter V6 engine. This car shared its engine and drive train features with the Dodge Stratus Coupe and the Volga Siber. This engine did not receive mass popularity and hence Chrysler replaced this engine with the EGF V6 in the future models. The car used a 4 speed 40TES automatic transmission and a six speed 62 TE automatic transmission and these can be fitted to the Siber and the Stratus.
