Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan developed Mitsubishi Lancer as a family sedan. Launched in 1973 it was available in two and four door sedans, a two door coupe and a station wagon. In 1975 Celeste was added into the range and it was a hatch back sold with a number of different labels. There was a selection of engines with 1.4 liter, 1.6 liter, 2.0 liter and a special 2.6 liter motor version that was sold in the US. It was available with a range of engines with capacities from 1.3 liters engines to 2.4 liters. It was one of the earliest cars to have incorporated the INVECS III CVT transmission.
On September 15, 2007 a new lancer was introduced and it was called lancer Fortis. It was powered by a 4B11 2 liter DOHC engine. They were able to output 157 horse powers. The same car was released in Australia in October with three trim levels. Engine was the same 4B11 2.0 liter one for all three models.
