The Buick Century was available with several different size engines from GM depending on the buyer’s budget, fuel economy preference and need for power. Buick offered a 2.5 liter engine the focused on fuel economy and budget. The next size engine was the 2.8 liter engine.

In the earlier model Century this engine was carbureted, then in the later years GM converted it to fuel injection. This gave the engine more power and better performance. The largest engine available was the 3.8 liter v-6. This engine offered best in class power, torque and towing capability.
