Buick Skyhawk Engine

In the beginning of production, the Buick Skyhawk offered a 3.8 liter V6 engine. The Buick Skyhawk J body was produced only a few years after that and was an economy car for the Buick line. The early Skyhawk engines were a 1.8 liter OHV push rod design engine. It was the base engine for the car and it’s focus was economy and cost.

The next level up was a GM Brazil built 1.8 liter OHC overhead cam engine. It was all aluminum and not well built. As an upgrade the buyer could purchase a 2.0 OHV engine or the top of it’s class was the 2.0 OHC engine. The 2.0 liter had a minimal increase in power and was a poor upgrade to offer in that vehicle. The top of the line and worse engine offered was the turbo 2.0 liter engine.
