The Cadillac Eldorado has been in around since the 1950’s. It is known as a high end luxury car with lots of bells and whistles. Cadillac used some engines built for cadillac only but in later years changed to engines used in other cars like the popular Chevy line. The early year model engines were huge in displacement but very inefficient so not much power was produced and milage was horrible.

The earlier Eldorado 503 cubic inch engine is a good example of what Cadillac was trying to achieve but fell short. Bigger is not always better. Then in later years they tried a transverse mounted all aluminum 4.1 liter engine, this engine was also underpowered and had mechanical issues. The problems did not stop with the 4.5 liter engine but soon Cadillac dropped that line, when to the Northstar series and even some Chevy built engines and finally got things moving.
