Cadillac Fleetwood was the flagship car for the Cadillac brand for years. When it came to powering these huge cars, Cadillac always went for the largest engine possibile until the later years. In 1985 the Fleetwood had an optional front wheel drive version that changed the engines used in the car significantly.

When the Fleetwood started delivering the FWD version the 4.1 liter engine was used. This motor was unpowered and problematic. Cadillac then switched to the 4.5 liter engine and it also was an under performing engine. The 5.7 liter Chevy engine made its way into the Fleetwood and things got better. The 350 5.7 liter engine has been a tried and true engine GM has used for years.
