The Chevy Equinox is the first actual cross over manufactured by Chevrolet, and it is powered by a 3.4 liter LNJ V6, producing 185 HP and 210 Foot pounds of torque. It is manufactured in China. The car shares the engine and advanced drive train features like the 5 speed Aisin AF 33 automatic transmission with the Saturn Vue.

From the 2008 model, the Equinox is powered by a 3.6 liter LY7 V6, producing 264 HP and 250 foot pounds of torque. The Equinox has a sports model and an LTZ. The 2008 Chevy Equinox Sport is powered by a 3.6 liter advanced DOHC V6, producing 264 HP, and is tagged as the SS or super sports. This car also features variable valve timing and is powered by a gasoline direct fuel injection system. This engine displaces the maximum torque at 4,900 rpm and uses unleaded gasoline for optimum performance.
