The Daewoo Lanos is a compact vehicle from the stables of the Korean car maker Daewoo. The car came into production in 1997 and was phased out by 2002. The first generation of the Lanos featured two engine variants, the GM Family 1 D – TEC 1.4 liter SOHC I4 engine and the 1.6 liter DOHC I4 motor. Used Lanos engines are for sale at ASAP Motors. The car was based on GM’s T platform and the Daewoo Nexia, Daewoo Kalos, Toyota Tercel, Opel Astra and the Volkswagen Golf are all built on the same platform and use similar drivetrain features and engine.
The car featured Delco Chassis disk brakes and had ABS as standard. The Daewoo Lanos also featured an automatic transmission with GmbH airbags as a standard feature. Used GM Family 1 D – TEC 1.4 liter SOHC l4 engines are in high demand and most websites dealing in used car parts have SOHC engines as they are very common.
The next generation Daewoo Lanos was powered by a 1.6 liter SOHC engine displacing 1,600 cc. The Lanos had four models and the basic power trains used on the vehicles were the same. Engine modification was present and the sport model was powered by a 1.6 liter Twin Port engine. The engine had a light cam shaft made of cast iron and had toothed belt. The car featured EGR Twin valves and featured in the Opel Tigra, Opel Zafira and the Opel Meriva. These similar cars did not have used Daewoo engines installed because of design problems.
The Euro IV compliant 1.8 liter DCVCP is next in line and this engine featured a catalytic converter and was also light weight owing to its cast iron cam shaft and over head shaft. The engine displaces 115 HP @ 6,000 RPM and 155 Nm torque @ 4,000 RPM. The engine is also used in the Saturn Astra, Opel Insignia, Chevy Sonic and the Chevy Cruze.
Next in line is the turbo charged 1.6 liter A16 engine which produces 150 PS @ 5,000 RPM and compression ratio equal to 8.8:1. The Vauxhall Corsa, Opel Corsa OPC, Saab 9 – 5 and the 2012 Chevy Cruze are powered by the same type engine but it cannot be refitted to either one of these cars.
