The Dodge 1500 Ram Truck is a popular full-size pickup truck that is part of the Ram Truck lineup, formerly known as Dodge Ram. The Dodge Ram truck has been named Truck of the Year four times by Motor Trend magazine, and has won numerous other awards since its introduction in 1981. The Ram 1500 is a powerful daily-use truck that is the first step in the Dodge Ram lineup that includes the 1500, 2500, 3500, and the Chassis cab. The truck itself, now under the brand Ram as opposed to the older Dodge Ram name, comes with one V6 and two V8 engines and is popular among truck enthusiasts and those that don’t need to do a lot of heavy-duty work hauling. The Dodge 1500 comes in six trim levels: Tradesman, SLT, Sport, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn and Laramie Limited.

The newest Ram 1500s come with a Pentastar V6, a 3.6-liter engine that generates 305 horsepower and 269 foot-pounds of torque and can tow up to 6,500 pounds. The engine allows drivers to use E85 fuel and features dual variable valve timing. Available in two- and four-wheel drive, this engine is a change from the previous Powertech V6 engine that was offered in the 2009 through 2012 model years.
The V8 options that come with the Dodge Ram 1500 trucks are impressive, with the Powertech V8 option still a choice. Ram 1500 offers the 4.7 Powertech V8 engine and the 5.7L HEMI V8 engine. In 2014, a 6.4L HEMI V8 will be available. The 4.7 V8 puts out 310 hp and 330 foot-pounds of torque. The 5.7-liter HEMI V8 puts out 395 hp and 407 foot-pounds of torque and can tow over 10,450 pounds. All V8 options come in two- and four-wheel drive.
The Ram 1500 boasts other features, including adjustable pedals, key-less entry, key-less ignition, Bluetooth support, voice recognition, and WiFi Hotspot capability. Buyers can choose regular, extended, or crew cab option. The crew cab features a 5-foot-7 or 6-foot-4 bed. Variable air ride suspension is available on the 1500, making the ride comfortable even on bumpy roads. Overall, the Ram 1500 offers a mix of power and comfort that Dodge Ram enthusiasts enjoy.
